The development and achievement of selection in Belarus

The history of the origin and the present of the science of selection at the Belarus State Academy of Agriculture which trains professional selectionists and has created 27 varieties and hybrids of different crops, is set out. The achievements of the Institute of Farming and Selection, the Institute of Potato-Growing, Vegetable-Growing, Fruit-Growing and Flax and also regional experimental stations, which have created 334 varieties and hybrids of the main crops occupying 80 to 100% of the sown areas of Belarus are given
