Bioassays were conducted in the laboratory to compare the sensitivity of pear psylla (Cacopsylla pyri L.) to amitraze using reference data acquired during several years in different orchards. Larvae from adults sampled in 2003 were less sensitive than the control. The efficacies of other insecticides were evaluated. Abamectine, thiocyclam and spinosad were at least as efficacious as amitraze. Spirodiclofen had a limited efficacy, possibly due to its slow mode of action. Treatment of eggs with teflubenzuron and novaluron had practically no effect. These results confirm resistance of psyllae against insect growth regulators and suggest the beginning of resistance to amitraze.
