During the study of the health culture history Vojvodina, within the frame of contagious animal diseases, it may be noticed that Vojvodina has always been an area where different epizootics appeared. Since in that time, the cause of the contagious diseases was not known, in the archives all of the diseases were called by similar names, mostly LUES PECORUM and LUES ANIMALIUM, regardless of the cause. In the 30's of the nineteenth century the veterinary service was organized in Serbia and also the first regulations on rabies, sheep pox, anthrax and pestis bovine were written. The first veterinary law was brought up in the Kingdom of Serbia in 1881 and was in the use until 1928. Here are described some of the contagious diseases animals and zoonosis that appeared in Vojvodina before and are still present now, while some of the diseases have been recently discovered.
