Numerical modeling of hydraulic transients in hydropower plants with Kaplan-turbines

Hydroelectric Power Plants equipped with turbines of Kaplan type are regularly modeled using the rigid water column theory, with the angular momentum equation and unsteady Bernoulli equation solved simultaneously. This paper presents a new approach to facilitate the computation, through efficient interpolation of the turbine characteristics.
