An experiment to study the effect of N, P, and K fertilizer and farmyard manure combination to growth, yield components, and grain yield of irrigated lowland rice was conducted at two locations in Ikur Koto, Padang, and Taram, 50 Kota District, West Sumatra during dry season 1999/2000. Treatments were arranged in randomized completely block design, with two factors and three replications. Source of farmyard manure (chicken and cattle) was the first factor, and six NPK fertilizer combinations as the second factor. The results showed that source of farmyard manure not significantly affected the growth, yield components, and yield of rice. Meanwhile NPK fertilizer and farmyard manure application significantly affected the growth, yield components, and yield of rice. The best yield was found in using 60 percent NPK fertilizers and 1000 kg/ha farmyard manure combinations
