The objective of the present study was to establish the relationship existing between temporary weaning and fertility in Aberdeen-Angus cows in Argentine pasture-rearing systems, through a fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) protocol. The trial involved 73 cows, subdivided into two groups: 38 were left with the calf (group C or control), while 35 were prevented from suckling for 48 hours (group T or treated animals). The Ovsynch protocol was applied to both groups. The conception rate for group T was 74.28%, while this was 65.78% for group C. The trial demonstrated the high efficacy of the Ovsynch protocol and that of the preparations used; however, the differences between the two groups were not statistically significant

Lo scopo del presente studio è stato di stabilire la relazione esistente tra lo svezzamento temporaneo e la fertilità nelle bovine Aberdeen-Angus, nei sistemi d'allevamento al pascolo argentini, attraverso l'utilizzo di un protocollo d'inseminazione artificiale a tempo fisso (IATF). L'esperimento ha coinvolto 73 bovine, suddivise in due gruppi: 38 sono state lasciate con il vitello (gruppo C o controllo), mentre a 35 è stato impedito di allattare per 48 ore (gruppo T o trattato). A entrambi i gruppi è stato applicato il protocollo Ovsynch. Il tasso di concepimento per il gruppo T è stato del 74,28%, mentre per il gruppo C era del 65,78%. L'esperimento ha dimostrato un'elevata efficacia del protocollo Ovsynch e dei preparati utilizzati; tuttavia, le differenze tra i due gruppi non sono risultate statisticamente significative
