This paper presents the circulation of livestock by-products in Hokkaido, mainly around Sapporo. Hokkaido is famous for livestock. Many livestock are slaughtered on regular basis, resulting in a large amount of by-product. However, these products are not being properly marketed at present. We propose that animal by-products from Hokkaido should be marketed all over Japan. Recently, livestock by-products have begun to be used more frequently. However, the business of marketing the by-products remains small in scale. Due to the high cost of production, it is impossible for a small dealer to main-tain a standard facility. Therefore, the goverment has an obligation to take action to develop marketing channels as well as promoting the consumption and utilization of currently unused by-product.
