A new strawberry variety eMiyagi VS No. 1f was selected in 1994 at the Miyagi Prefecture Agricultural Research Center, from the hybrid seedlings crossed between ePa-faro, and eMorioka No. 16, in 1987 at the Miyagi Prefecture Horticultural Experiment Station, Natori, Miyagi, Japan. Runner plants could be taken from the mother plant, and were easily propagated. The leaves were large and dark green, moreover, the growing is very vigorous. eMiyagi VS No. 1f required high winter chilling and fruit clusters were not produced cont i-nuously. eMiyagi VS No. 1f fruits were large in size, L class, and the weight was about 20g in the early harvesting season, average about 10-15g in the weight, with spherical conic form, glossy scarlet. The fruits was excellently sweet and moderately acid. The Brix@index of the fruits were 8. 5-9. 5@by using a handrefractmeter. The flower-buds at the terminal cluster of eMiyagi VS No. 1f differenciated at the beginning of October, later than that of eMorioka No. 16f .The seedlings were planted early in October and were covered with lawncover in nearly 20th of October for the extension of the growing period of flower-buds. eMiyagi VS No. 1f showed resistace in the field to anthracnose, Colletotrichumfrag ariae Brooks, and Alternaria Black Spot, Alternaria alternate strawberry pathotyoe, but not to Fusarium wilt, Fusarium oxysporum f. fragarisae WIRKS et WILLIAMS. Miyagi VS No. 1f was adapted to the open culture in the cool region of Japan, especially at the gChusankantih where difficult for agriculture.
