This report presents the findings for the project B7-6201/2002-02 on the current situation and potentiality of producing Neem products for local agricultural use and export from Kenya, with particular reference to the coastal area. The study was developed in response to the rising human related threats to the natural resources in the region generally and around Arabuko Sokoke Forest in particular, to meet domestic and economic needs of the local communities. Specifically the study aims at understanding the present and potential future situation related to the use of neem products in Kenyan agriculture, as well as the possibilities for organizing the collection, processing and exportation of neem products from the coastal area. Through commercialization of Neem products from the Neem trees, which naturally occur in the region, the members of communities would potentially benefit through ecologically and economically sustainable Neem utilization activities.
