Cypress and pine industry in Kenya : analysis of supply and demand
1997
White, Sean P.
This report is produced by Kenya Forestry Development Project to facilitate timber harvest planning, and orderly scheduling of industrial plantation grown timber on to the market. The study deals with the principal plantation species - cypress (Cupressus) and pines (Pinus), and to lesser extent eucalyptus. It does not deal with the minor plantation species or with timber and fuelwood supplies from the indigenous forests. Plantation harvesting plans were in use in the past but discontinued in the late 1980`s and revived by KFDP in 1995. This report fills some of the information gaps on these issues. The current status of the plantation inventory is assessed and the extent of the core plantation resource is estimated.
