This paper describes the perspectives and experiences gained as a result of planting and managing trees within or close to the urban and ruralurban environments in Nairobi and Kitui of Kenya. The paper gives the expected output of forestry development activities which include enhanance awareness, identification of appropriate species for an often modified environment, development of appropriate establishment and management techniques, application of appropriate approaches or mechanisms to contain the negative influences on urban forest/tree resources and most importantly, attained of a viable and healthy environment.
