Problems and solutions to improve the efficiency of timber transportation

During the last ten years in timber transportation, a tendency has been observed to use new trucks produced mainly in Scandinavia. Their full weight and dimensions often exceed the maximum value set by the traffic regulations, which creates the problem of how to use them in full value. Development tendencies of trucks used in timber transportation are analyzed. Several characteristic types of trucks are selected for further comparison. Trucks' average values are determined based on time study calculations of a shift's output, and timber transportation costs are calculated depending on the transportation distance.
