Comparison of dairy life performance parameters of black-and-white cows in selected state and private herds in Lublin region
2000
Gnyp, J. | Malyska, T. | Kowalski, P.
Life parameters of dairy life performance were compared for 337 Black-and-White cows in 1985-95 from 20 private farms (128 cows) and 2 state herds (209 cows) in the Lublin region (Poland). The data were analysed by means of the smallest squares method. It was found that the herd type where the cows were kept, state or private, significantly affected their lifetime parameters of milk usability. The animals kept in private farms had their first calving earlier (by 2.4 months), they had a greater number of calvings and were used and milked longer. They reached higher lifetime milk, fat and FCM yields and better milk effectiveness, defined by the amount of FCM per year of life, than the cows kept in state herds
