Effect of soil pH on nutrient uptake by small-flowers galinsoga (Galinsoga parviflora Cav.)
Parylak, D.(Akademia Rolnicza, Wroclaw (Poland). Katedra Ogolnej Uprawy Roli i Roslin)
In a two-years long pot experiment the effect of soil pH on the growth of Galinsoga parviflora and on nutrient uptake was investigated. Gallinsoga parviflora proves high tolerance of soil pH. This weed species can develop under soil pH between 3.8 and 6.7. The lowest concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium were found in plants growing in the soil of pH = 5.6. Soil pH higher of lower than about 5 increased the nutirnt content in Galinsoga parviflora plants. The great harmfulness and the highest nutrient uptake concerned the plants that grew in soil at pH = 5.8-6.7
