Observation of the leaf curl symptom of pepper planted in Lampang Agricultural Research and Training Centre (LARTC) showed that there were 5 symptoms; 1. The shoots and young leaves were dwarfed, narrow and the leaflet margins curled upward. In the serious case, they curled upward until touching each other, 2. The youngest leaves were dwarfed and narrow, the leaflet margins curled downward. The shoots are extremely distorted and malformed, 3. The foliage symptoms were light and dark-green mottling with curling and slight malformation of the leaflets, 4. The leaflets are curled with pronounced mosaic symptoms, 5. The plants were dwarfed and the leaflets were curled and narrow. After diagnosis by sap inoculation on the 17 species of host plants of the pepper virus and back inoculation of the pronounced local lesion symptoms on the peppers, the results showed that the first symptom in causes by thrips, the second is caused by broad mite, the third is caused by Pepper mottle virus (PeMV), the fourth is caused by Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) and the fifth is caused by chilli veinal mottle virus (CVMV).
