Sewage sludge from beer industry was irradiated with gammaradiation at the dose of 3.32 kGy. Moisture of the sewage sludge was decreased by industrial drier. Finally, sewage sludge was change to powder form at 11.05 percent moisture content. Preparations of sewage sludge as a culturing medium of Trichoderma were prepared by mixing sewage sludge with rice bran A (fine) and rice bran B (coarse) at the ratios of 50:15:35, 60:10:30 and 70:5:25 by weight. Trichoderma harzianum (isolate CB-Pin-01), a promising biological control agent used for controlling stem rot of tomato, was inoculated into sewage sludge mixtures. The highest Trichoderma count, 1*10**(9) cfu was obtained from the culture medium with a ratio of 50:15:35. The efficacy test of the TSC powder-mix for biological control of Sclerotium stem rot of tomato caused by Sclerotium rolfsii was performed as the pot test. The TSC powder-mix was applied on soil surface around tomato stem at 7 days before Sclerotium inoculation. at the rates of 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 g/plant. After inoculation for 7 days, tomato plants without application of TSC-mix were severely infected, showing stem rot symptom and the plants gradually died off, whereas, the tomato plants applied with TSC powder-mix at 20-30 g/plant showed the promising protection against stem rot infection. The efficacy studies of TSC powder-mix at small-plot and large-plot scale have been underway. The above results showed that the recycling of sewage sludge for the production of a biological control agent (TSC powder) and as a supplementary material used for the control of Sclerotium stem rot of tomato is a promising alternative for the future management of sewage sludge.
