Detemination of forest activities -a study of private nonindustral forestry in Norway

This study reports on the main findings of an analysis of the effect on various activities of subsidies to silvicultural work, management plans and road building. It is an exploratory microeconometric study based on Norwegian census data for 1988 for about 41 500 properties. The results suggest that the means generally have a positive effect both on timber supply and various silvicultural activities. Some findings are also obtained on the effects of property-and property owner characteristics, as well as on second order interaction term effects of management plan on one other means and property-and property-owner characteristics on the other.
