Pest species of thrips (Thysanoptera) in protected areas

In this paper we present data about six economically important thrips species in protected areas (greenhouses). Western flower thrips Frankliniella occidentalis was first recorded ten years ago in Serbia and Montenegro, while Hercinothrips femoralis and Parthaenothrips dracaenae was present in this country on the very beginning of the last century. Species Echinothrips americanus, Scirthothrips dorsalis and Thrips palmi are not yet found in Serbia and Montenegro, but special attention must be paid because of their potential harmful effects on crops. In this paper monitoring and control of mentioned pest thrips species were also presented.
