The Jegricka, once a natural watercourse draining the southwestern part of the region of Backa (the Vojvodina Province, Serbia), had been turned into a regulated canal by regulation works conducted in the first half of the 20th century before 1960. Presently it is one of the nine canals of the main canal network of HS DTD (Hydrosystem Danube - Tisza - Danube) in the region of Backa. Phytocoenological studies of the Jegricka conducted in the period 1997 - 2003 indicated the presence of a relatively rich and specific aquatic and semiaquatic vegetation which includes 3 classes, 3 orders, 6 alliances, 16 associations and 6 subassociations. The objective of this paper is to present the current status of the Jegricka vegetation through a syntaxonomic review of the constituent submersed, floating and emersed macrophytes.
