In free market agriculture and rural development of Montenegro occur as factors significant for development of overall economy. Natural resources in Montenegro are not employed enough in agriculture and rural development. The same relate on cultivable soil and rural area population, who is 38.03% of total population. Activation of these factors gives chanse for agriculture and rural development. Sociodemographical structure of population in rural areas has been changed significantly in the second half of 20th century, because migration of young people from villages to cities brought rural areas in unenviable position, not only because of decrease of population but also because unfavorable structure of population, with great number of older people. If we want to give rice to agriculture and rural development it is necessary to create prerequisites for development of comparative advantages of modern agriculture, which will create conditions that young people stay in rural areas and take their significant part in this process.
