The efficacy of abamectin, thiamethoxam and amitraz for controlling of pear sucker (Cacopsylla pyri) in pear orchards was investigated on the locality of Bela Crkva (Serbia) during 2004 and 2005. Experiments were conducted at different pest and plant development stages and for this reason the intensity of infestation varied. Abamectin was highly effective in controlling all Cacopsylla pyri larvae (97.8-99.8%). The efficacy of thiamethoxam in controlling the initial development stages was high (98.4-99.7%) but low in controlling the final development instars (74.2-78.5%). The efficacy of amitraz in controlling of all larvae instars of pear sucker was lower (84.4-86.0%) then the expected. Further research is needed to assess the resistance level of pear sucker populations to amitraz in our country.
