Influence of sowing time on the biological behaviour, biomass production, and rutin content of buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) [Iran]

Английский. Buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) has been used both as a food and a traditional medicine. Buckwheat is cited as an origin plant of rutin, which is a kind of flavonol glycoside compound used to prevent oedema, haemorrhagic diseases and stabilizing high blood pressure. This study was conducted to determine the optimal sowing time for maximizing rutin yield. The research was carried out during 2001 at Paykan Shahr, 16 km from Tehran, Iran. A cultivar provided from the Agricultural Research Institute of Kanagawa (Japan) was tested at seven sowing times, starting from 5 April and repeated every 30 days. The herb was harvested at the full flowering stage. At that time, data on phenological phases, plant height, number of branches and herb yield were recorded. The quality of seed harvested at full ripening stage was analysed by 1,000 seeds weight. The highest dry herb yield (24.2 and 24.6 g/plot) was recorded from July and August sowing, respectively. The highest rutin content (0.60 g per plot, on dry matter) was extracted from plants sown on July. The highest 1,000 seed (37.5, 35.2 and 38.0 g) weight was obtained from April, August and September sowings, respectively. This research demonstrated a strong influence of sowing time on buckwheat yield under Iranian environment. итальянский. Il grano saraceno (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) è una coltura che trova una certa diffusione come fonte alimentare e anche come materia prima per l'industria farmaceutica. La rutina, un glucoside flavonico contenuto nelle foglie e nei semi, rappresenta il principio attivo di interresse farmacologico, usato nella prevenzione di edemi, problemi emorragici e per l'efficacia nello stabilizzare la pressione sanguigna. La finalità di questo studio era l'individuazione dell'epoca ottimale di semina per ottenere la migliore resa in rutina. La ricerca è stata condotta, nel 2001, in una località (Paykan Shahr) a 16 km da Tehran. Sono state messe a confronto sette epoche di semina intervallate di 30 giorni a partire dal 5 aprile, utilizzando una cultivar fornita dall'Istituto di Ricerca Agricola di Kanagawa, Giappone. Al raggiungimento dello stadio di piena fioritura, sono stati rilevati dati sull'altezza delle piante, numero di branche e produzione di biomassa fresca. A fine ciclo è stata valutata la qualità della produzione attraverso la determinazione del peso di 1.000 semi. Le più elevate produzioni di biomassa fresca (24,2 e 24,6 g mE-2) sono state registrate con le semine di luglio e agosto. La migliore resa in rutina (0,60 g mE-2) è stata ottenuta con la semina di luglio. Nelle semine di aprile, agosto e settembre si è ottenuta una produzione con il più elevato peso di 1.000 semi, rispettivamente 37,5, 35,2 e 38,0 g. I risultati di questo studio evidenziano, nelle condizioni di prova, una notevole influenza dell'epoca di semina sul comportamento produttivo del grano saraceno. L'epoca più favorevole per ottenere le migliori produzioni di biomassa verde e resa in rutina è individuabile nei primi giorni di luglio
