Effect of increasing fertilizer doses on oleander for flowering pot production [Nerium oleander L.]

Английский. In the present paper the results of a fertilization trial of two oleander genotypes (Aurora and Capraia) for flowering pot production are reported. Capraia was harvested in a spontaneous population in the island of Tuscan Archipelago bearing the same name; it is characterized by high vigour, thick leaves and pink flowers with wavy petal borders. Aurora was selected from a seed population derived from a commercial variety (Alsace); it is characterized by thin leaves, intermediate vigour and pale pink flowers. To avoid root damages at potting, cuttings were rooted in plastic trays with peat and trays were completely submersed in perlite, in propagation benches provided with basal heating and mist system. At potting, rooted cuttings were fertilized with increasing fertilizer concentrations (0, 2, 4, 6, 8 g lE-1). Ten weeks after potting, the following data were collected: height, number of internodes, stem basal and apical diameter, SPAD, number of branches and % of plants with flowers or flower buds. The obtained results showed that Aurora, due to higher growth and flowering percentage, is more suitable for early production of flowering pot plants and that the lowest fertilizer concentration (2 g lE-1) is to prefer. In fact, no improvement of the measurement parameters was observed with the higher doses. Capraia, despite its vigour; showed a slower initial growth and, due also to higher rusticity, it is probably more suitable for cultivation in soil
Показать больше [+] Меньше [-]итальянский. In questo lavoro sono riportati i risultati di una prova di concimazione effettuata su due accessioni di oleandro (Aurora e Capraia) da vaso fiorito. Capraia è stata ottenuta da una popolazione spontanea dell´isola di Capraia, Arcipelago Toscano; è caratterizzata da vigore elevato, foglie spesse e fiori rosa con petali a bordo ondulato. Aurora è stata selezionata da una popolazione da seme derivata da una varietà commerciale (Alsace); presenta foglie sottili, vigore intermedio e fiori rosa pallido. Talee radicate in bancali provvisti di riscaldamento basale e mist sono state trattate, al momento dell´invasatura, con dosi crescenti di fertilizzante: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 g lE-1. Dopo dieci settimane dall´invasatura, sono stati raccolti dati riguardanti l´altezza, il numero di internodi, il diametro del fusto al colletto e all´apice, lo SPAD, il numero di ramificazioni e la percentuale di piante fiorite o in boccio. Dai dati rilevati è emerso che Aurora risulta più adatta per produrre vasi fioriti in tempi brevi e che la dose di fertilizzante da preferire è quella più bassa (2 g lE-1). L´oleandro Capraia sembra invece più adatto a essere coltivato a terra, in relazione alla maggiore rusticità
