The concentrations of ammonia, trimethylamine, and other lower amines of livestocks, namely, catties, pigs, hens and quails were determined. The ammonia was determined by indophenol blue method and pyridine-pyrazolone method, and the lower amines were determined by a gas chromatography with cold trapped procedure using liquid oxygen. A great deal of ammonia was detected in four livestocks. The concentration range of trimethylamine as typical amine is N.D.-9.9 ppb, and triethylamine, dimetbylamine, ethylamine were identified too.
