The aim of this paper is to investigate the production structure of agriculture and food industry from the view of the various types of demand which are, inducing production of those sectors. The cross-sectional DPG analysis with the regional input-output table is employed. The findings are as follows; 1)The location pattern of agriculture depends on the regional climate and faming conditions. The location pattern of the food industry depends on domestic and imported raw material sources and location of domestic consumption. 2)With the cross-sectional DPG analysis, agricultural and food industry products are shipped from the agricultural areas (e.g. Hokkaido) to the industrial areas (e.g. Kanto). In this case, the shipped agricultural and food items are limited. Products of heavy industry are shipped from the industrial areas to the agricultural areas. 3)Much of the exports are heavy industry goods and they are exported from the industrial areas. On the other hand, various goods are imported in various areas.
