A five-year-old spayed domestic ferret was referred to the Veterinary Medical Center at the University of Tokyo for systemic alopecia of more than two years duration and unilateral caudal (3rd to 5th) mammary swelling of the right side. The results of Clinical examinations including increases in estradiol and 17-hydroxyprogesterone concentrations suggested an adrenal disease. An exploratory celiotomy revealed swelling of both adrenal glands. The enlarged left adrenal gland and mammary gland were surgically removed and adrenocortical carcinoma and mammary duct ectasia were histologically diagnosed. Post-operative steroid hormone concentrations were lowered, and the clinical history suggests a causal relationship between adrenocortical and mammary duct ectasia.
