Marked enhancement of seed performance could be obtained by controlled hydration of pepper seeds without using additional materials associated with conventional osmotic or solid matrix printing technique. Four g of seeds was hydrated in a 70 mL glass jar in two different methods;lid opened daily (LO) for 20 s and lid kept closed (LC) during the 8-day incubation period. For hydration treatment, water was added into the jars on the seeds to a level from 10 to 50% by 5% increments and the seeds were incubated for 8 days at 25℃ on a rotating mixer.
