Possibilities of soil tillage and sowing technologies optimisation in spring barley

Field trials were organized at Study and Research Farm 'Vecauce' during 2002 to 2004. The effect of soil tillage and sowing techniques on grain yield and yield structure elements of spring barley were studied on sod-podzolic loamy high-cultivated soils with high potassium and phosphorus contents. It is ascertained that grain yield was 3-6% higher in treatments with soil deep loosening. This difference was significant in treatment with soil loosening at 0.25 m depth. However the grain yield was 4-17% lower in treatments with sowing in stubble than in treatments with ploughing. The results of investigation show that sowing in stubble with application of Glifoss (glyphosate, 360 g LE-1) at dosage 2 L haE-1 gave similar results as in treatment with ploughing. The sowing with disk seeders Rapid gave higher grain yield than sowing with Amazone but differences were not significant. The highest influence on grain yield showed the number of perennial weeds per 1 mE-2.
