Effect of extra load on the performance of disk harrow in clay loam soil

The research experiment was conducted to study the effect of extra load onthe performance of disk harrow in clay loam soil at moisture content of 13.56% atLatif Experimental Farm, Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam. The mountedtandem disk harrow with 510 mm disk diameter and extra loads were powered byFord-6610 diesel tractor and operated in fourth low gear speed. The wheelslippage 4.64% average increased by increasing the load on disk harrow, fuelconsumption increased and depth of ploughing increased. The field capacity ofdisk harrow plus extra loads remained nearly same in all cases except diskharrow plus 400 and 500 kg load. The soil pulverization was highly improved withaddition of loads on disk harrow.
