The study was undertaken during the year 2001-02, in connection with thePSF Research Project No. C-PMNH/Bio (311). Algal samples were collected from Gut-content of fish Labeo rohita Hamilton. Ten fish-samples were analyzed and total of68 algal species belonging to 44 genera of 7 Phylum, while Phylum Cyanophyta 10species belonging to 7 genera, Volvocophyta 13 species belonging to 12 genera,Chlorophyta 5 species belonging to 5 genera, Bacillariophyta 37 species belongingto 17 genera, Charophyta 1 species belonging to 1 genus, Vaucheriophyta 1species belonging to 1 genus, Xanthophyta 1 species belonging to 1 genus wereobtained. The quality and quantity of these are summarized in tabular form.Physicochemical parameters were recorded from freshwater of Rawal Dam. Thepresent work in this paper gives an account of the fact that water was found tobe alkaline, rich in primary productivity and fish production. The Fish, Fauna andother aquatic life are primary dependent on algal species. The ratio of DissolvedOxygen remained high throughout the year and beneficial for aquatic life.
