The results obtained in 5 experiments are presented. In the first of them, the effect of different share of rye in concentrate mixtures given to calves on their performance, nutrients digestibility and N balance was evaluated. In the second experiment the possibilities of substitution of soybean oil meal with the ground peas or with a rape seed oil meal in the concentrate mixtures for calves were examined. The third experiment was carried out with the steers fistulated to the rumen and to the first part of duodenum. Animals were divided into 3 aggregated latin squares. In each of them 4 different diets were used. In the fourth experiment the average amino acids profiles of the protein from feeds such as: barley, rye, wheat, soybean oil meal, horse bean, red clover hay, perrenial ryegrass hay and meadow fescue hay. The fifth experiment was carried out withy the steers fistulated similarly as in the former experiment three. The effects of fat addition to the protein feeds on the extend of degradation of protein and dry matter in ruminal and intestinal parts and totally in whole gastrointestinal tract were evaluated
