The work was aimed to determine the effect of some soil properties on cadmium solubility and to assess various extract solutions suitability for assaying this metal forms in soil taken up by oats and rape. Cadmium accumulation in plants depended on soil concenrations of its readily soluble forms and specific predisposition of plants for this metal absorption. Solutions with small power of extraction, releasing a small part of total cadmium contents, describe this metal phytoavailability in soil much better than "strong" solutions, dissolving a majority of soil cadmium
