The aim of the paper is qualification of conformability between actual soil moisture appointed in laboratory and indexes of soil moisture used in hydrology: Lambor's anterior precipitation index (IL) and American index (Ia). The qualification was performed for soil with granulation as in loamy sand. The notation for soil moisture is taken from model experiments conducted in Department of Agronomy Experimental Station in Chylice (Poland) between 1968 and 1981. Statistical analysis of results has proved that Lambor's index is more correlated with actual soil moisture than American index. It was established that during early spring soil keeps significant humidity "in stock" after the winter and thus actual soil moisture is related with amount of rainfall only to a small degree. Otherwise correlation between moisture of soil with sloamy sand granulation and the Lambor's anterior precipitation index is positive and rather strong (r=0.602)
