Number of aphids (Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch)) 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 aphids per/plant were released on wheat plants at 20 and 30 days after sowing. At early stage of growth during 8 to 21 February 1994, the aphid population was not increased but tended to decrease. In early March, at milky stage, the aphid population was increased rapidly due to warm temperature. At harvesting time, it was found that population of aphids which were released at 20 days after sowing would be greater than late releasing of 30 days. Released 15 aphids/plant or more at 20 days after sowing decreased grain yield about 21.72 percent whereas released 20 aphids/plant or less at 30 days after sowing did not show any effect of yield losses. Wheat varieties, Fang 60, Samoeng 2, Insee 1 and ARTCW 87001 showed respectively on good yield and tolerant to aphid damaged.
