Relationship between nutrient content and growth parameters, production and climate at the blossom stage in Manila mango

In Mexico, the growing of Manila mango is the most frequent and the main producing State in Veracruz. Flowering is a critical stage in the mango plant and the knowledge of the influence of endogenous and exogenous factors helps to pinpoint the optimum practices of production, such is the case of the interaction of some growth measures and production with nutrients of which very little is known. For this reason, in sixteen 30 years old trees, for 2 years, monthly samplings of leaves in third and fourth position in buds of the median region of the tree top were made. It was determined that P interacted with 52 percent of 31 growth variables and production, followed in importance by Mg with 32 percent, Mn with 22 percent and K with 19 percent. P interacted positively with Fe, Cu and fresh matter, and negatively with 13 growth variables, which is explained partially by a limitation of phosphate in certain periods due to a lack of permeability of the clay soil which caused a decrease in the absorption rate and the metabolic activity because there was not enough energy as ATP was lacking.
