The influence of season and sire on the results of superovulation and embryo transfer
2006
Hegeduesova, Z. | Riha, J.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of season and beef sires on profit and quality of embryos after superovulated treatment as well as to evaluate the conception rate after transfer of fresh and frozen embryos. Date concerning 487 realised embryo recoveries and 2008 transfers realised during the years 1991-2004 were included into the study. The best results were achieved in summer and in autumn, good results were also obtained in spring. The average number of recovered ova were variable and depended on the sire used (from 6.60+/-6.17 in Blonde d'Aquitaine to 17.16+/-6.66 in Charolais). The biggest number of transferable embryos was recovered in donors inseminated by Hereford bulls (7.15+/-6.42). The best conception rate was observed when Simmental sires were used (63.43%).
