Se evaluó en el suelo y en terneros de la raza Holstein, de nueve meses de edad, la reducción que provocó el entomófago Pheidole megacephala (F.) a las poblaciones de huevos y larvas de la garrapata Boophilus microplus (Canestrini) que están presentes en el biotopo pasto. El entomófago reguló el 96 de los huevos de garrapatas. Los bovinos que se encontraban en áreas en que pululaba el entomófago fueron 2.6 veces menos parasitados por el ectoparásito que aquellos que pastaban en áreas en que no se encontraba el biorregulador.

An evaluation was made in the soil and on nine-month-old calves of the Holstein breed of the reduction caused by the enthomophagous P. megacephala F. to the eggs and larvae populations of the tick Boophilus microplus (Canestrini) that are present in the biotop pasture. Enthomophagous controlled 96% of tick's eggs. Bovines that are in areas where the enthomophagous pullulated were 2,6 times less parasited by the ectoparasite than those that pastured on areas where there's not biorregulator.
