The topic of the article is zinc, belonging to essential metallic microelements. Zinc is component and activator of many enzymes. Information is given about the physiological role of zinc and the daily requirement (appr. 15 mg) of the human organism. The paper deals with topics of typical concentration range of Zn in different foodstuffs and attention is paid to the Zn-rich food products. The Zn-content of red meat, liver and nuts is above the average.
