In this study potassium critical level of Khazar variety and suitable grain yield prediction equation was investigated in 21 paddyfields of Guilan provience at 2002, 18 ricefields for Hashemi variety in west guilan at 2003, and 20 ricefields in central Guilan at 2004 to determine potassium fertilizer requirement. 50 surface soil samples (0- 30 cm) were collected and analysed for some physical and chemical properties such as available potassium. Ricefields were selected in such way that provide suitable range of available potassium. After land preparation 6 experimental plots (4* 5m) constructed in each field. Nitrogen and phosphorus has applied based on soil test from urea and triple superphosphate, respectively. Potassium was applied in different rates including 0, 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 kg of K2O per hectare for Khazar and 0,50,100,150,200, and 250 kg ha -1 as muriate of potassium. Khazar variety was transplanted in a space of 25* 25cm, and Hashemi variety in 20* 20 cm just after fertilizing of plots. Plots were harvested in 5 m 2 at the end of maturity stage. Statistic analysis performed on grain weight based on 14% moisture. The results have shown, that effect of different K fertilizer application in 5% on grain yield of Khazar and 1% on grain of Hashemi variety in Central Guilan were statistically significant. Potassium critical level were based on 95% relative yield determined 160 mgkg -1 for Khazar and 138 and 156 mg kg -1 of soil for Hashemi variety in West Guilan and Central Guilan respectively.
