The comparasion of plastic boxes having special trays together with ethylen absorbent with wooden boxes in packaging of apples

In order to removal of ethylene on the storage of apple an experiment was conducted using the completely randomized factorial experimental design in Urmia and Mashad.The first factor was types of varieties, in 3 levels including Golden and Red Delicious and Jonathan in Urmia and Abasi in Mashad and second factor was type of packaging in 5 levels including Wooden box, plastic box, plastic box with paper impregnated with potassium permanganate, plastic box with trays and plastic box with trays and potassium permanganate. The third factor was time of storage in 5 levels including in cold storage for 5 month and in ambient storage for2.5 month and in 3 replicates. The analysis of results showed that the effects of type varieties, packaging and time of storage on quality factors were significant. Mean square also showed that maximum brix, pH and firmness and minimum amount of total acidity belonged in Mashad. Also maximum of firmness and maximum brix belonged to Golden and Red Delicious respectively and maximum amount of acidity and minimum of pH belonged to Jonathan. During the storage also the amount of brix, pH and weight loss increased and ta. And firmness decreased. The analysis of results of packaging showed that maximum amount of the weight loss and decay and minimum amount of the firmness belonged to wooden box and minimum amount of the weight loss and maximum amount of the firmness belonged to plastic box with trays and potassium permanganate. plastic box with paper impregnated with potassium permanganate also efficient. Therefore use of potassium permanganate preserved weight loss, firmness and decay of apples. Keywords: packaging, potassium permanganate, removal of ethylene, storage of apple and trays of fruits.
