Demography of the Anthocorid bug Orius niger Wolff under laboratory condition.

The predatory bug Orius niger Wolff collected on Marguerite flower (Argyranthum spp.) from Tehran, Rose (Rosa spp.) and Carnation (Dianthys caryophyllus) from Mohallat. The predatory bugs fed on flour moth (Ephestia kuehniella Zeller) eggs and corn pollen. To obtain a cohort of the predatory bug eggs, some green bean pods put in rearing colony for 4 hours. 159 eggs were counted and reared under 26 ?C, RH 65?5 and L16: D8 photoperiod until adult emergency. The number of hatched eggs and adults (male and female) were recorded. 30 females put in a plastic cups (8*10 cm) separately and reared to end of life time. The laid eggs were recorded daily. Results showed development period of eggs and nymphs were 4 and 12 days respectively. Adults emerged at 16 th day. In demographic analysis life table, reproductive and stable population parameters have been calculated. Results showed that mortality rate increased with age. The highest mortality was during nymphal period and the lowest mortality occurred on the pre-oviposition and the early of the oviposition period. The life expectancy on birth time was 28 days. The net fertility was 76.70 eggs and the hatching rate was 0.79. The net reproductive rate (Ro) was 22.95 females/female. The intrinsic rate of increase (rm) estimated 0.113.
