Identification and collection of grape cultivars in Chaharmahal- va- Bakhtiari.

Iran is one of the important origins of grape genetic variation and its production. Grape is a very important fruit in Chaharmahal-va-Bakhtiari province, for its economic aspects and high level production. Collection and identification of local varieties is necessary for maintaining of useful genomes, comparison between commercial cultivars and local varieties and introduction of the best-adapted varieties in every region. Thus collection and identification of local varieties is the first step for improvement of grape production in Chahar mahal-va-Bakhatiari province. This study was carried out in 2000 to 2004 years in two stages: The first stage was done in Ardal (Naghan Country) in 2001 and 2002. The second stage was done in Shahr-e-kord (Saman and Gahroo country) in 2003 and 2004. Study in every region, began by assignment of the variable, strong and old grape orchards and signing of local grape varieties in every one. The assigned varieties (58 varieties), were studied in different growth stages and some of their characters, were measured (about 55) by using of grape descriptor. The studied growth phases were: 1) Falling phase. 2) Before flowering phase (Young leaf and shoot). 3) Full bloom or flowering phase (Inflorescent, tendril and mature shoot). 4) Berry set to veraision (Mature leaf). 5) Ripening (Berry, cluster and seed). Clustering of these varieties by cluster statistical analysis (by stat. Graphic statistical software) and its resulted dendrograms, determined the similar and nonsimilar groups and the real number of local grape varieties in the studied regions. Thus, the main local grape varieties were identified about 32 in these regions, and the most important characters, were described for all of them. Also, clustering of the measured characters indicated that the similar and nonsimilar groups in the local varieties. In addition to the most effective characters in separation of local varieties were appointed.
