The purpose of this research is to present a future view on green tourism in Korea, focusing on the green tourism of each village promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the National Agriculture Cooperative Federation, as part of the improvement policy for developing rural areas and increasing the income of farm households. In addition, this paper will attempt to clarify the current state and problems of green tourism through a survey of the attitudes of those farmers who participated in it. The promotion of green tourism is highly desirable in Korea, as the structure of rural society is changing. For this purpose, structural changes in rural society and the development of green tourism in Korea were reviewed, and the attitudes of farmer managers who participated in green tourism were surveyed. The survey results clearly indicated that green tourism has become a new business among middle-aged people, and has provided full-time and part-time farmers with subincome or extra income. On the other hand, a lack of resources in the region, namely facilities and money, has been revealed, as well as the problems of noise and garbage. In the future, it is hoped that there will be further improvements in farmers' incomes and in the revitalization of rural areas. Moreover, it is hoped that the exchange between cities and rural areas will be promoted through green tourism whilst maintaining preservation of the natural environment and the traditional culture of Korea. As a result, 'softer' improvements should take precedence over 'harder' ones.
