Insect community richness and abundance in natural and mass trapped olive orchard [Olea europaea L.; Calabria]

Английский. The evaluation of insect community structure in olive ecosystem can provide information on the environmental impact produced by treatments against olive fly. In organic olive orchards the mass trapping method, by tabs (attract and kill), is generally used against the adult population of olive fly present in field. To this purpose, three plots were compared: two (A and B) were mass trapped and one (C) was kept natural. All the three fields were monitored by yellow traps. The results showed a good similarity in the olive growths, but the number of Coccinellidae, Lepidoptera and Panorpidae was significantly lower in the mass trapped sites (Tukey test). The explanation of this decrease is still to clarify; because the mass traps have an actually high selection, it cannot be excluded that casual contacts of the insects with the traps may be responsible of the abundance reduction

La valutazione dell'entomocenosi dell'ecosistema olivo (diversità ed entità) può fornire indicazioni circa l'entità dell'impatto ambientale che un trattamento contro i fitofagi può provocare. In olivicoltura biologica, contro Bactrocera oleae è diffuso il metodo del mass trapping, basato sull'impiego di tavolette idonee (attract and kill), per diminuire la popolazione adulta presente in campo. In questa prova si sono poste a confronto tre diverse tesi, due trattate con mass trapping e una naturale, allo scopo di valutare l'impatto ambientale provocato sulla entomocenosi, in termini di diversità ed entità degli individui presenti. I risultati hanno mostrato una buona stabilità del sistema olivo, ma con una diminuzione del numero di insetti presenti in campo nelle tesi trattate rispetto alla tesi naturale. Tale diminuzione ha riguardato Coccinellidi, Lepidotteri e Panorpidi. Sulle cause che determinano tale riduzione dell'entomofauna, non si dispone di elementi certi ma, vista l'alta selettività del sistema di trappolaggio massale, non si esclude il contatto casuale degli insetti volatori con le trappole
