Insect Pests of Sampaguita (Jasminum sambac L.)

During the preliminary collection surveys conducted in Balete (Batangas), Los Baños, Calamba City, Cabuyao (Laguna) and San Miguel (Bulacan) [Philippines], 14 pest species were found on sampaguita. These were the bud worm Hendecais duplifasciales (Pyralidae, Lepidoptera), webworm Nausinoe geometralis (Pyralidae, Lepidoptera), cutworm Spodoptera litura (Nactividae, Lepidoptera), tobacco budworm Helicoverpa armigera (Noctuidae, Lepidoptera), blossom midge contarinia sp. (acidomylidae, Diptera), whitefly Trialeurodes koskaldyi (Aleyrodidae, Homoptera), undetermined scale insect (Coccidae, Hemiptera), 2 undetermined species of thrips (Thripidae, Thysanoptera), a lace wing bug (Tingidae, Hemiptera), the coreid bug Acanthocapis scabrator (Correidis, Hemiptera), an undetermined chrysomellid beetle (chrysomellidae, Coleoptera), cirtus green bug (Pentatomidae, Hemiptera) and an undetermined Lepidopteran leaf miner.
