Hadiara drain once fertile water body for production of fish has now become non-productive due to inflow of untreated industrial effluents and city sewage. Therefore, a study was carried out to assess the adverse effects of different types of effluents on the water quality parameters of the drain. The parameters studied include temperature (degree C), dissolved oxygen (mg/I), B.O.D total dissolved solids, total alkalinity (mg/l), total hardness (mg/l), calcium hardness, chlorides (mg/l), pH, chromium (mg/l), lead (mg/l), copper (mg/l) and iron (mg/l) of water samples. B.O.D. of water samples was very high ranging from 29 to 162 mg/I. Heavy metals were also detected and their sufficient amount was present in the polluted samples. Higher temperature of nullah water potentates their toxic effects.
