The natural flora of Pakistan is very rich and diverse. Almost 6000 taxa have been reported to exist. Compositae includes more taxa than any other family in dicots, while there are more grasses than composites. Many such plants are regarded as weeds, besides being unwanted their nuisance value is generally highlighted. This paper emphasizes the important role of these weedy plants as medicinal plants. Weedy species like Silybum marianum, Solanum nigrum, Cichorium intybus and Taraxacum officinale-complex may attain a revised status of underutilized crops.
