Based on field studies and laboratory analyses of soil material, the value and suitability of soils developed spontaneously during a 4-year period on the bottom of a former water reservoir used for final cleaning of sewage. It was shown that the soils formed had a low content of organic matter, were polluted with zinc and that clay layers present in the profile limited precipitation water filtration. They are overgrown with grasses of wet habitats and numerous species of hydrophillic dicotyledonous plants. For the purpose of extensive farming, reclamation works should aim at improvement of water relations, increase of organic matter resources and development by means of agricultural technology
