The paper presents the results of measurements, including the driving force, rut, and rolling resistance of driving wheels in tractors with 6.0, 9.0, 14.0, 30.0 kN drawbar pull. The tyres of the tractors were diagonal (6.0, 9.0), diagonal and radial (14.0) or radial (30.0). The same parameters were also measured for a 4.00-10 diagonal tyre. The study was carried out for two production technologies of wheat and corn and one technology of grassland production. The measurements were made on loam soil. The parameters of soil movement under tractor wheels were measured. A mathematical model for the driving force was constructed, using a modified model of elastic and plastic strain. As has been found, the main factor affecting the driving force was vertical load of the wheel. Maximum values of the driving force were: about 60 percent of the load on soil and 75 percent of the load on grassland. As has been found, the traction force of the radial tyres was 10 percent higher than that of diagonal tyres
