The paper presents results of testing a forage harvester during preparation of silage from the whole maize plant with a yield of 33.729 kg/ha achieved. The harvesting capacity of the harvester ranged from 6.24-8.56 kg/sec depending on the operating rate, yield and moisture of silage mass, at a uniform length of cut. Average harvester capacity performance per effective hour of work was 27.5 t/ha at a speed of 4.55 km/h. The total seasonal performance was 3667 t of fresh mass.
